Video- The Great Global Warming Swindle

I leave you an interesting video about global warming. The controversial documentary is titled “The Great Global Warming Swindle”, so you can imagine that it approaches the topic from a different perspective than we are used to. It was broadcast in March 2007 on the British Channel 4, in response to Al Gore’s film “An Inconvenient Truth”. It’s a bit long (1:15:47) but it’s interesting and worth watching.

In summary, the video explains that planetary warming is real, but its causes are not due to human activity but to natural cycles of solar activity. It also shows that the historical relationship (in geological time) between temperature and CO2 concentration in the atmosphere, one of the main arguments put forward in Al Gore’s video, actually occurs in the opposite order to what is claimed. That is, the data shows that solar activity modifies the temperature, and several centuries later this results in an increase in atmospheric CO2.

They also claim that the amount of CO2 emitted by humans is insignificant compared to the naturally existing amount in the atmosphere, so, in any case, human industrial activity would have a null effect on climate change.

The documentary consists of interviews with scientists and experts, some of them authors of the first studies on climate change. They denounce that there are important political and economic interests behind the concept of reducing CO2 emissions, so they censor a debate on the real causes.

They also denounce that excessive propaganda and inadequate media coverage have created ‘sectarianism’ in certain sectors of the population, who are not even willing to listen to or consider other theories. (remember, a true scientist does not affirm, always admits doubts).

Finally, they explain the effects that the CO2 reduction policy is having on emerging economies and the third world, preventing their development and evolution, again for economic reasons.

And you, what do you think? Is planetary warming really caused by humans? Is it an invention with significant economic interests behind it? Or, on the contrary, have the experts in the video been ‘sold’ to the oil lobbies?

If you want to express your opinion on this or leave us your comment, you are welcome.
